Returning to Türkiye

In 2025, we are excited to return to Türkiye, a country renowned for its rich cotton heritage and leadership in sustainable cotton production. Due to its excellent visa accessibility and range of logistical advantages, the conference will continue to support participation from farmers and other stakeholders, ensuring broad participation from the cotton community.

As the seventh-largest cotton producer globally, cotton is a significant export crop for Türkiye. The country is a hub of innovation, with our third-largest membership base playing a vital role in global sustainability efforts.

The Better Cotton programme in Türkiye was launched in 2011, and last year (2022-2023 season) alone sourced over 104,000 metric tonnes of cotton, whilst supporting over 2,400 licensed farmers.

The conference will take place in İzmir, located on the Aegean coast, offering a historical setting with proximity to key agricultural sites, and providing an opportunity for immersive field trips and industry-specific experiences.

Join us in İzmir for a unique event where we’ll explore, innovate, and drive progress in sustainable cotton together.

Farmers at the Heart of the Conference

No other conference highlights the experiences of the cotton farming community like the Better Cotton Conference. Each year our farmers and other field-level representatives take part in this global event and share their successes and challenges in growing cotton more sustainably.

Their participation underscores the collaboration needed to ensure that climate solutions are practical and effective. Those most impacted by climate challenges must be at the heart of any discussion.

About Better Cotton

Better Cotton is a global not-for-profit organisation supporting the more equitable and sustainable production of cotton at the farm level. We exist to catalyse the cotton farming community with partners, governments and others to continuously drive positive impact by setting standards and facilitating the supply and demand of more sustainable cotton from farm to brand. In just 15 years we have aligned more than a fifth of the world’s cotton with our standard and helped farmers and farming communities thrive. 2.13 million farmers in 22 countries now have a license to sell their cotton as Better Cotton. In total, our programmes have reached almost 4 million people whose working lives are connected to cotton production.
